Promised Land is a web documentary on the curious role of vacation parks in the Netherlands: a common refuge for asylum seekers, migrant workers and olympic athletes.
This documentary project deals with the fine line between leisure and survival. Once a holiday parc, now a resort for semi-permanent displacement.
During one year, writer/filmmaker Eefje Blankevoort, photographer Suzanne Valkenburg and myself visited frequently five different parks. The textual, photographic and audiovisual research is presented online and an installation version has been exhibited in Amsterdam, Arnhem and Berlin.
